Community

The District's small school atmosphere provides a safe and orderly environment with few discipline problems and no gang related incidents or violence. Nestled in the idyllic rural community of Rainbow, Vallecitos offers its students an array of programs and services to meet the unique and individual needs of its population. The primary Vallecitos School site has served a focal point of community activities since its establishment in 1885.

The Governing Board of the Vallecitos School District recognizes that community service can help students develop personal skills, career awareness and self-esteem. It is the Governing Board's strong position that voluntary community service is an integral component of what it means to be a citizen of the 21st century. To that end, the Governing Board voted at its November 2005 meeting to establish the Chuck Wells Spirit of Community Service Awards program. The service awards program encourages excellence as a goal for all students and seeks to publicly recognize students for unique or exemplary achievements in community service activities.
